Meet Chef Amanda:
Welcome prospective cabiners! My Name is Amanda, I am a professional chef. My training started at an early age, at my home in Connecticut, from playing in the sand box (mmmm... mud pies!) to helping my mother in the kitchen and then a little later experimenting on my own by either making elaborate cakes or homemade breads. I pursued my passion for cooking at a bakery, and then at restaurants and finally to professional training at the Florida Culinary Institute.
I trained extensively in candy making, fine pastries, cakes and international cuisine. While at school I decided that I wanted to be a private chef and soon found myself working for a family who occupied the former Kennedy Estate in Palm Beach. There I was given an opportunity of a lifetime, to work with any ingredient, fine china from around the world and to meet various important people. I worked there seven years when I decided that I wanted to start a family with my husband Jeff, who brought us to North Carolina to follow his career, and we love It here! We have a farm in the country where I keep my horse named Cherry Blossom and our four cats. I love all animals and hope to expand our farm someday. I really enjoy cooking and teaching, and can't wait to have you participate in creating food that everyone will enjoy making. Let's say pizza for instance, learn how to make the dough from scratch, knead it, shape it, put your favorite toppings on and bake it. How about home-made ice cream, then make it into a sunday with any topping you could imagine. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it... how about you? This is just a small TASTE of what to expect. I look forward to seeing you soon.
